It's that time of year again ladies and gents - it’s time to lodge those tax returns. It’s a period of mixed feelings and one of the only times when seeing a lot of zeros on a paycheck ISN’T a good thing. Tax time can either mean your hard earned dollars are rewarded with a July payback bonus or, for those who banked big this past financial year, it’s time for the rich to give to the poor - think of the ATO as a modern day Robin Hood.
Regardless of how much you have to get back (or give up), there’s no denying these tax time feelings.
When you try to do it on your own
But you have no idea how to lodge your tax return
When you’ve kept all your receipts but you don’t know what for
Seeing your income statement and wondering where your money went
You get embarrassed when you show the accountant your bank statement because it reads like a food journal
The standoff between those who win big, and those who lose out
When you luck out big time by claiming every single thing possible
Or when you're left wondering why you paid all that money to an accountant
