From free outdoor events to a bit of fun with robots.

School holidays are a great time to get the kids off the couch and out and about enjoying the fantastic Perth Summer weather.

While some parents might be back at work slowly trying to remember how to do their jobs post-Christmas break, we’ve compiled a list of kid friendly activities to take the pressure off trying to think of things for your kids to do this school holiday in Perth.

Outdoor Cinemas

Sometimes nothing beats simply sitting down and watching a movie together as a family. Perth is home to some amazing free pop up outdoor cinemas so you can change up the venue from your coach to a bean bag, camping chair or picnic rug, and enjoy a family classic film under the stars.

Lifeboat Boat At The Marina - Mindarie

A fully licensed venue so the kids can enjoy the playground while you sip a wine or ice cold beer until the sun goes down. Life Boat has a projector screen set up with a movie on every Friday and Saturday night. See the schedule here.

Telethon Community Cinema - Burswood, Bassendean, Joondalup and Murdoch

Running now until April 2023, these outdoor venues let you BYO your own food and are a great budget friendly night out. Bring your own seats or hire a bean bag, chair, or throw down a blanket. Gates open at 6.30pm and films start around 7.45pm. More info and session times.

Thomas Dambos Giants of Mandurah

This free outdoor exhibition allows you to choose your own adventure on your journey to discovering each of Thomas’ hidden Giants. This exhibition aims to promote understanding about the importance of protecting our natural world, including Mandurah’s globally significant Ramsar-listed wetlands, unique waterways, bushland and wildlife.
