Let’s be honest - who isn’t looking forward to the summer sunshine and warmer weather?
I definitely am – so if you are anything like me, you have already started searching for events around Perth that you can attend with your family and friends. After a little looking around, I have come up with the top events and activities to attend as the weather in Perth starts to heat up. Whether it be music events, comedy acts, local market fun, food and wine festivals, or something for the kids these school holidays, I have found something for all.
Enjoy the Arts, Music & a Good Ol’ Laugh at the Astor
On the corner of the busy Beaufort Street in Mount Lawley sits an Inter-War Art Deco Style stage and movie theatre. Over the years, the Astor Theatre has undergone several restorations and renovations, but keeps its original history and structure. This summer the Astor Theatre will be home to many music and comedy tours, including:
Michael Jackson The Legacy Tour – Saturday 28th October
Kathy Griffin – Laugh Your Head off World Tour – Tuesday 31st October
Echoes of Pink Floyd – Saturday 4th November
Guy Sebastian – Conscious Tour – Saturday 11th November
Weekend at the Markets
There is always something exciting happening in your local area, so why not hit up the events page on your local council’s website to see what they have on offer this summer. From my experience, I have found that each local council market have something unique and different to offer their community. Here are just some of the weekend markets that caught my attention:
Stirling Farmers Market
Scarborough Rotary Club Swap Meet
Kyilla Farmers Markets
Spring into Armadale Festival
Wine & Dine
Here is something for the adults. After a long week’s worth of work, who wouldn’t want to pour themselves a glass of wine and indulge in some delicious cuisines? On the 28th and 29th of October, you can do just that by visiting the Market Square Park in Subiaco as they hold one of WA’s Wine and Food Festivals - Unwined Subiaco. There will be a lot of beers, wines, ciders, spirits and boutique food stalls for you to wine and dine through, plus plenty of live music to keep those relaxed weekend vibes going. For more information about this event, visit Unwined Subiaco’s website.
School Holiday Fun
If you are looking for a place to take your kids these school holidays, why not register for the Telethon Kids Institute’s Discover Day. Some activities include investigating the Microscopic World or watching live demonstrations in the all ages Open Air Science Lab. This event will be fun for the whole family and a great day out for the kids.
Summer in Perth is starting to heat up with these events, plus plenty more. What are you waiting for? For more details about these events and activities, check out Experience Perth and the EventBrite website.
