MEET & BUN
Meet & Bun first opened up in Trinity Arcade in 2015 and have now expanded with another two stores (Fremantle and Mount Lawley) and it is no surprise - they know how to make a good burger. These Shake Shack-inspired burgers are cooked perfectly pink with a mouth-watering chargrilled taste. Whether you’re after beef or chicken, Meet & Bun has you covered. Their potato buns, fresh local ingredients and famous chipotle mayo makes them stand out from the crowd. As for our favourite, it is a close contest between Ari Gold and Mother Clucker. They also offer off-menu burgers so keep an eye out on their social feeds - you don’t want to miss these. It doesn’t stop there, Meet & Bun also serve up delicious shakes and gelato. Dinner AND dessert - you can’t go wrong. On Tuesday’s they have $10 Ari Gold special and $5 shakes, how could you say no!? Definitely worth adding to your list.
JUICYÂ BUNS
Juicy Buns is one of the newer burger pop ups on the scene but they have already made a name for themselves. Picture fried chicken, aioli, cheese, pickles, tomato, lettuce and sweet sticky sauce. Let me guess, you’re already drooling? Juicy Buns live up to their name; their burgers are juicy, you best make sure you have a stack of serviettes at the ready. Actually scratch the serviettes you’ll be licking your fingers clean, the sauce is that good. Juicy Buns have been popping up at different locations around Perth but we’re happy to announce their permanent location at Tribute Cafe in Shelley every Friday night starting next month. Be sure to stop by.
3230 SMOKE + GRILL
Finally a unique burger joint south side! 3230 Smoke + Grill in Jandakot specialise in smoked meats, so we opted for Bad Boy Brisket and it did not disappoint. Think sliced beef brisket, slaw, pickles, sweet bbq sauce and 3230 signature sauce. This burger was juicy and full of flavour, which worked perfectly with their crunchy slaw. Smoke + Grill have also nailed their fried chicken burgers, perfectly golden, crispy and juicy with the right amount of coating. These burgers are a must try. They also have a range of delicious sides like their porky mac n cheese, slaw and smokey beans. Tip: add mac n cheese to your burger.
SHORT ORDER BURGER CO
Flipping burgers from inside The Mantle in Fremantle, Short Order don’t mess around serving up well seasoned, juicy, organic grass fed beef patties that are cooked medium rare. These burgers are served on lightly toasted brioche with their signature sauces, making them a killer burger. Our pick is their good old classic Short Order burger. Recently opening on Hay Street in the CBD there is no excuse for not trying these top notch burgers. If you didn’t know, Short Order have collaborated with Stampede Gelato to create some amazing milkshakes - the perfect way to wash down your burger (and yes they’re available at both stores). Run, don’t walk!
HOODBURGER
This cult burger joint has come a long way from grilling burgers out of pop up venues around Perth, to now serving up delicious burgers from their Northbridge and Inglewood stores. Hoodburger’s menu might not be large, but they know how to do simple well. Using only high quality WA sourced ingredients they have earned a spot as one of best burgers in Perth. Their smashed beef burgers are perfectly chargrilled and for those who can handle the heat, their Hot Cheeseburger is a must. Made with Carolina Reaper ketchup, it sure knows how to pack a punch. Keep an eye out on their social feeds, as every Tuesday they run a test kitchen at their Northbridge store with new burger recipes always changing. Our pick was the veal schnitzel with shredded iceberg, mayo and lemon in a buttered bun. You're welcome.
