Perth Festivalgoers can raise a glass this year with a special, one-off hand-crafted gin from Master Distiller Cameron Syme, under the award-winning Giniversity Gin label, produced at his Margaret River Distilling Company.

The Indian Ocean Gin has been masterfully distilled by fusing unique West Australian botanicals.

By adding citrus juice or tonic water, you can marvel at the colour changes from the natural deep blue hue of the Indian Ocean, which reflect the colours of this year’s Perth Festival theme, Wardan, meaning ‘ocean’ in Noongar.

Salt Bush and Geraldton Wax have been macerated with drops of salty Gnarabup sea water then melded with Juniper, Samphire, Summer Berries, Sweet Orange and Butterfly Pea to create this sublime gin.

The man behind the one-off creation, founder of Margaret River Distilling Company, Cameron Syme says, “We are always seeking to innovate and experiment to create something truly delicious, so we are honoured to create and share another outstanding spirit under the Giniversity brand, with Perth Festival audiences in mind.

“The Indian Ocean shelters most of our magnificent West Australian coastline; it is part of who we are. We created this gin as a unique celebration of the festival, and of this great ocean and its spiritual significance to every West Australian.”

The limited-edition, hand-crafted gin will be available during Perth Festival 2022 while attendees enjoy some of the best artists from Western Australia and the world from 11 February to 6 March 2022.

Venues serving the exclusive gin include Perth Festival performance venues such as State Theatre Centre WA and His Majesty’s Theatre, the Festival’s Contemporary Music venues B Shed in Fremantle and European Foods Warehouse in Northbridge, The Stables Bar and Perth Festival Supporting Partner, State Buildings. It will also be available for purchase via the distillery website and at Cameron Syme’s Margaret River and Albany Distilleries.
